Who is Ozarks TNR?

We're a 501(c)(3) non-profit made up of volunteers who love cats and are passionate about the stewardship of our furry friends as well as the natural environment. We do donation-based TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return/Rehome) facilitation by providing equipment and expertise to community members who are concerned about their local unfixed cats and networking with non-profit clinics across multiple states to increase the accessibility of spay/neuter surgeries for cats who don't have a regular vet and don't have anyone to pay for the operations.

What is TNR?

TNR is the most humane way to control the population of free-roaming cats. Domesticated cats are here because of people bringing them here, and stray and feral cats are around because of people abandoning them, so people must take accountability for the issues we've caused. Uncontrolled, a cat population will quickly grow to meet the carrying capacity of its environment, which results in various ecological harms including decimation of local prey species and the spread of diseases. Humans are complicit in this snowball because we love cats and happily feed them, which further exacerbates population growth. Some animal control organizations will trap and kill cats, which does not have the intended effect since it opens up hunting ground for new cats to move in. Fixing the existing cats so that they can't reproduce leaves them with happier and more peaceful lives, and helps the populations of small birds, rodents, and snakes reach a comfortable equilibrium with the predators we introduced into their environment.
